Homecare continue to develop care assistant skills through ongoing quarterly update training.

training3.jpgAs part of ongoing commitment to training and development, many of our Care staff at venues throughout Northern Ireland have attended specialist training to enhance their skills as Care Assistants.

To date, we have covered the following specialist training:

Catheter care, Dementia, First Aid Stoma care and Infection Control. In addition, we deliver Moving and Handling Update training in all areas on an annual basis.

Our training is delivered by qualified professionals who have had extensive experience in the care industry. This specialist training has been particularly useful and beneficial to not only for our Services Users but for our many Care Assistants who have been able to put their newly acquired skills into practice in the course of their duties. With NISCC (Northern Ireland Social Care Council)  and with RQIA, there is a requirement for all care staff to complete additional training as part of their development in the industry and this is what Homecare is focusing to achieve.

Our commitment to quality is demonstrated through our pledge to continual training. Homecare's training programmes are designed to enhance the competence and knowledge of each care assistant. Complying totally with the Health Board's exacting standards, we place great emphasis on ensuring that care assistants are never sent into a person's home without the knowledge and skills to deal with any complex situation. The training we provide takes place on a regular basis at our dedicated training centre in Milford. We provide training by experienced and qualified tutors in:
