Support Services PDF Print E-mail

Homecare Support Services was founded in April 2003, we committed to providing a better quality of life for vulnerable people to live more independently through the provision of housing related support services.  Working alongside Homecare Housing, we seek to smooth the transition to independent living for those who have experienced, are experiencing, or are at risk of being vulnerable in their community.

Our Philosophy of Support

We believe that compassion and support for the vulnerable people and families we serve and with whom we work should form the heart of our practice.  Our ongoing philosophy is to empower service users to gain and maintain as much independence in their lives as possible, to maximise their capacity to make choices and decisions, and to enable them to control their own lives.

Our Service Users

We provide services for vulnerable individuals and families, many of whom present with multi-complex needs, including those affected by drug and alcohol misuse, and mental health problems.  Many have experienced significant trauma and/or bereavement and feel excluded or isolated from society.  Some simply require advice and guidance to enable them to maintain their own home.

Our Services

On accessing our services, each individual undertakes an Initial Assessment which seeks to identify their goals and aspirations.  Working in conjunction with the service user, these goals and aspirations are developed into a Support Plan which is tailored to the specific needs and wishes of that individual.  The forms of support provided are many and various, and are dependent upon the specific life history of the service user.

They may include:

  • Befriending and encouragement;
  • Budgeting Plans;
  • Healthy Eating Plans;
  • Support to overcome addictions;
  • Housing support and advice;
  • Employment and training advice;
  • Development of social and behavioral skills;
  • Assistance in developing social networks;
  • Referral to external agencies and services.
  • Staff Team

All Initial Assessment and Support Planning activities are undertaken by our Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Team, which is comprised of health care professionals from a range of disciplines.  Subsequent support visits are undertaken by our specialist Support Workers, all of whom undertake intensive training in relation to the core needs of our various service user groups.  Where crisis intervention or complex support is required, our Support Workers act under the direct guidance of our Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Team.
