Louise Harney was the only person from Northern Ireland to receive one of six Tallow Chandlers prizes for City & Guilds

Health and Social Care learners and lecturers at a special lunch in London on Thursday 7th February 2008.

Louise works as a care assistant for Homecare. Joan Boylan, Personal Manager, supported and mentored Louise

throughout the programme said “Homecare have invested heavily in training and supporting staff through NVQ and

Louise’s achievement demonstrates the excellent practice that the company always strive to achieve”.

Louise, a student of the Southern Regional Collegeni-care-student.jpg

prestigious award. I am honoured and humbled. This

award is a team effort and I am pleased that the work of

the Lecturers in Newry who supported me so well has

received U.K recognition”

Each year, the Tallow Chandlers request City & Guilds to

submit a selection of top achievers who have completed

or taught a health and social care qualification through

the awarding body.

Louise is photographed here with the Master Tallow

Chandler, Mr Phillip Edwards, who presented Louise

with a cheque, medal and certificate and praised her

achievements: ‘Louise’s a credit to all and this achievement will do much to further what I am sure will be a wonderful

career in Health and Social Care.
