Santa’s Gatelodge is set to raise a large sum of money which will go towards the NSPCC and through the Sophia fund, it will raise vital funds for the children’s scanner in Royal Victoria hospital, Belfast. Open 16 days this December and with a range of art and craft stalls, this year promises to be bigger and better than last year, bringing people from North and South of the border.

The hugely popular Santa’s Gatelodge is supported by many local businesses and volunteers from Homecare Independent Living the local community, businesses, schools and sports clubs. This event is organised by the ICare Charity Committee, in Homecare Independent Living, based in the Head Office in Milford. The mission of the committee is to enhance the dignity and improve the quality of life for people, families and communities.

Santa will arrive on the 1st December along with Mrs. Claus, the elves and the reindeer. The elves will be working away in their workshop while they are here, as there is lots to get done before Christmas. Some Elves will also be working at the new dedicated Elf School, where you can get a train ride up and learn how to be an elf. Mrs. Claus has kindly agreed to make plenty of mince pies and mulled wine for Mums and Dads and you visit her in her kitchen.

The reindeer will be staying around Manor House, so you may be lucky to see one if you visit. Santa says they need lots of food to give them plenty of energy for all the travelling they have to do on Christmas Eve. Along with your tour guide elf, a train ride will take you up to the grounds of Manor House and up to visit Santa.

Santa says that he can’t wait to meet the all children and will want to hear what they want for Christmas.

The Gatelodge itself is located in the grounds of the old Manor House in Milford, owned by Gerald and Mairead Mackle, which recently hosted the successful Milford Fun Day. Milford is a village steeped in history, it is the home of the penalty kick and it has several historical buildings. It is with pride that the community welcomes so many visitors from North and South of the border to their small village.
